How to Measure the Length of Dog

Knowing the exact size of your dog is inevitable, if you want to buy properly fitted clothes for your dog. It can also help you to understand how your dog is. However, there are not much people know exactly how to measure their dogs in the right way. Measuring your dog from tip of nose to tip of tail gives a literal length. This length, however, is not what you need to provide, when the sales asked for the length of your dog. If you try to buy your dog the perfect dog jumpsuit, the right measurement should be taken, and that would be great.

1.        To make your dog to stand up as straight as possible with some tricks that you play usually with him. You will not get an accurate measurement if your dog is lying down, sitting on the floor, sniffing the ground or doing anything but standing straight. So make sure the measurement take place while your dog is standing straight.

2.        Place the tip of the tape measure on the spine of your dog at the point on the neck where his collar lies. Hold the tip in place with one hand. It might be a little difficult to measure his length while you need to keep him stand straight, so you should better to ask for someone to help in advance.

3.        Put the measuring tape right on the back of the dog, following its spine, until you reach the point where its tail meets its body.

Read the measurement on the tape where the tail of your dog starts. The dimension which is significantly less than the nose to tail measurement is the length of your dog. And this measurement is exactly the right length you need as buying the cheap dog costume for your dog.
